Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation promotes Be Tire Smart

The benefits of being "tire smart" are promoted in the 2002-2003 annual report for the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC). The report encourages Canadians to visit the Be Tire Smart website and to practice proper tire maintenance. Many important facts about energy conservation are highlighted. For example, if all personal vehicles in the country operated with properly inflated tires, more that 640 million litres of fuel could be saved every year. It also notes that 70 per cent of Canadian passenger cars and light trucks have at least one tire that is improperly inflated by at least ten per cent. CIPEC is an industry-government partnership that helps Canada's industries improve their energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
